We capture the natural "swarm intelligence" of thousands of articles among "news" content creators, where news also includes blogs and social media. With sophisticated algorithms and billions of pattern matching calculations, we discover relevant market or political articles, hidden patterns, trends & context in the news. We also create animated interfaces of intelligence that give our clients a richer, real-time discovery environment.

The idea of News Patterns visualizations originated from founder James Andrus' engineering experience with SDRC. (Structural Dynamics Research Corporation, now part of Siemens AG.) SDRC was an innovator of applying sophisticated analytical and visualization methods to structural dynamics, or how mechanical parts vibrate. At SDRC, he was able to see the power of combining computer analysis methods with visual animations as innovative solution paths for solving the unknowns of complex dynamic systems, driven by many details. Nothing is more complex than the flow of news defining important events and trends.

In the case of News Patterns, we invented contextual patterning algorithms and supporting systems to discover useful news trends and intelligence out of overwhelming and noisy news flows. Yet in this chaotic flow of news, there is a collective or "swarm intelligence" among the thousands of articles and news content creators.
